Underlag til drivhuse og polytunneller

Et jævnt, dræneende gulv, der bærer stativer og fodtrafik uden at samle vand eller fremme ukrudt.

Derfor er det vigtigt

Derfor er armering vigtig her

Under glass or plastic, a floor that holds water raises humidity and invites disease. Concrete solves the drainage but stores heat badly and is a permanent commitment. A grid floor drains instantly, stays level under staging legs and can be lifted if the structure moves.

Installation

Sådan installeres det

  1. Mark out the area and excavate to the depth of your sub-base plus the grid depth plus your infill blinding.
  2. Lay a woven geotextile across the formation, lapping joins by at least 300mm. This stops the sub-base and the subsoil mixing.
  3. Lay and compact the sub-base: 50mm MOT Type 1 over a woven geotextile. Compact in layers rather than all at once.
  4. Blind the sub-base with a thin layer of grit sand and screed it level. This is what gives you a flat finished surface.
  5. Push-fit the grids together across the area, working from one edge. Cut around obstacles with a jigsaw or fine-tooth saw.
  6. Fill the cells: Angular 10mm gravel filled level, blinded for a smoother walking surface. Work the fill in with a stiff brush so no cell is left hollow.
  7. Check the finished level. Nothing should stand proud of the cell walls, and no cell should be left under-filled.

Most installations are straightforward groundwork. The grids themselves push-fit together and need no fixings, adhesive or specialist tools.

Hvilken gitterdybde?

The 40mm general duty grid suits most structures. Use the 30mm heavy duty grid where heavy staging, water tanks or a barrow route are involved.

If you are between two options, take the heavier duty one. The cost difference across a typical project is small next to the cost of lifting and relaying a surface that was under-specified.

Den fejl vi oftest ser

Skipping the geotextile. Under cover, with warmth and moisture, anything that can grow through will, and you cannot easily weed a gravel floor.

Ofte stillede spørgsmål

Will weeds grow through?

Not with a woven geotextile beneath the sub-base. Without one, they will find any route they can.

Can staging legs sit directly on it?

Yes. The stone confinement spreads the point load rather than letting the leg punch through.

Is it warm enough underfoot?

A gravel floor holds less heat than concrete but dries far faster, which matters more for plant health in most cases.

Can I anchor the structure through it?

Yes. Set ground anchors before laying the grids and work the cells around them.

Will it get too hot or cold underfoot?

A gravel floor holds less heat than concrete but dries much faster, which matters more for plant health and disease pressure.

Can I run irrigation under it?

Yes. Lay pipework in the sub-base before the grids go down and bring risers up through a cut cell.
